Mike has over three decades of public safety experience, working in partnership with stakeholders to foster safe and thriving communities.
He currently serves as the Executive Director and Chief Security Operations Officer at Hoag Health System. He oversees physical security for the enterprise, chairs the hospital’s Workplace Violence Prevention Committee, and serves as a member of the Hospital Association of Southern California's Safety and Security Committee.
He is also a 29-year law enforcement veteran, who served as the Irvine Police Chief during the last six years of his tenure, before retiring in late 2021. Mike worked in collaboration with city and civic leaders, schools, businesses, faith-based institutions, property managers and the community at large to reduce crime, enhance safety and promote community policing. During Mike's tenure as Chief, Irvine retained its designation as "America's Safest City" as measured by per capita FBI violent crime statistics.
While Chief, he also served as President of the Orange County Chiefs' of Police and Sheriff's Association and as a Commissioner for the Orange County Human Relations Commission.
